When to Contact the Office of the Taxpayer Advocate

The Office of the Taxpayer Advocate may be able to assist if:

  • You filed a protest of a Notice of Proposed Assessment;

  • You were not given fair and equitable treatment as stated in the Taxpayer Bill of Rights; or

  • The Department has not responded to your specific, written inquiry after 90 days.

You may e-mail taxadv@dor.ga.gov to report system-related problems that affect a significant number of taxpayers or submit process improvement suggestions.
